first parent contact & another celebrity sighting

i was sooo nervous this morning when i found a "please call the parent of _______" in my box! all these thoughts consumed my mind... "what did i say... what did i do... he's not failing... what can the parent be calling about... wait, who is this kid?"  all of these and more went racing through my mind.

on the first attempt to call mom, no answer. ugh. i really wanted to get this over with!

second attempt, success! after a few seconds i discovered that there seemed to be a language barrier, and finally broke some ground with mama jane doe, realizing she was just calling to make sure her son wasn't lying to her about not having homework in my science class and that he was doing good. i reassured mama jane doe that her little johnny x was doing fine and that all assignments were turned in thus far. i also let her know that three week grade notices were coming out after next week and that would let her see her sons progress. she thanked me for the call and that was that. whew. that was a scare!

after school i go to the office to call yet another parent (problem #2) and what do i hear to my dismay?.... that little johnny x and sally q have run off during last period and the cops are looking for them. yes, the same johnny x that i talked to wonderfully about to his mama. geez.

alright, so about problem #2. i had to call a parent today to see what week(s) the child will be absent so i can send all of his things with to work on while he is away. where is he going, you ask? on vacation!!!! do these parents not know that that is what JUNE, JULY & AUGUST are for. geez, again.

on to celebrity sightings at YJH.
so, in addition to being told i was a soap opera star last week... today i am reese witherspoon! ahh, the flattery. who else is with me when i say that these kids are a bunch of suck ups?!? oh heck, it worked though :)

  1. Last year, my kids told me I looked like Brittney Snow... weird because there is obviously no resemblance. My kids also compliment my clothes... apparently I dress cute! I love the things they say. Some things, however, I ignore! :) Glad you're enjoying your first year! The second is 10x better than your first... so if this year is good for you, wait until next year! :)
