Casey and I really don't participate in the normal aspects of Halloween such as costume parties, trick or treating, or whatever else comes with this spookalishous holiday. But one thing we have always done, in the five years we've been together, is carve pumpkins. Each year this drive-way fun somehow turns into a competition.... at least for Casey anyway. This is probably a good time to mention how TERRIBLE I am with a carving knife and pumpkin! I just don't seem to have that steady hand... or patience!!! You can probably tell in the pictures below which pumpkin is Casey's... and which one is mine.
Hey, I did get a little creative with those swirls out to the side!!!
And you can't really see it but there are clear marbles on the side of the "H" too...
they are glowing in the first picture.
I also have to share a classic "Kaley funny" from Halloween past. I think it was either our first or second Halloween in college that we carved pumpkins together. We always harvest the seeds to attempt to make these yummy roasted snacks... But one year (and I remember I drove the XTerra then), we cleaned out the pumpkins, threw away the guts, and bagged up the seeds for a tasty treat. Only to realize weeks later that I had left them under the seat of my car and they were completely mildewed! I had been smelling something for a while, but just couldn't put my finger on it....
Casey reminded me of that story on Sunday when we were carving our pumpkins... oohh, it made me laugh. And it made me realize we've have been together for FIVE years... whoa, it seems like so much longer (in a good way).
Cute!! I love the H for your pumpkin!!
